Elysia SheehanArtist, Teacher, MomHigh school is when Elysia first began exploring various styles of art such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and photography. She began her college career as an art major at Lawrence University. When Elysia switched to education as her major at DePaul University, her husband (boyfriend at the time) bought her first easel to encourage Elysia to paint outside of school. She approaches her work with many different styles. Her favorite approach is a collage technique with paper, paint and ink. She has been inspired by the art she has seen from her travels to Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. Elysia continues to paint and displays her artwork around Chicago in coffee shops, libraries, pubs, and galleries. Elysia recently began chainsaw carving when a tree in her front yard died. She and her husband and kids started joking around one night at dinner imagining ....”What if?” See the results of this newer artistic journey on the Wood Carving tab. Elysia is also available to paint, draw, photograph, or carve wood on commission. Fill our the contact form or email [email protected] for more information on purchasing an artwork you see on this site, or for inquiries into a commission.
